Dates overview CAMERA JAPAN Festival 2013: 25–29 September | Rotterdam LantarenVenster 1-4 October | Amsterdam Melkweg Cinema 4-6 October | Amsterdam Kriterion 2013 theme: conTradition Japan is an island where centuries-old traditions still live on to this day, but is also known as a modern and westernised culture. But how can, in a country that is so modernised, people still continue to cling to their traditions? When taking a closer look at these traditions you will see that seemingly old traditions also have been subject to change and are sometimes not even of Japanese origin. During the 2013 edition of CAMERA JAPAN Festival we will show how old and new Japanese traditions are revitalised in modern art forms. In addition to an extensive film programme with over 30 Dutch premieres, we also organise music, dance, Visual Arts, the CAMERA JAPAN’s Kid’s Day on Sunday and the famous film brunch. The festival officially opens on Thursday 26 September with a performance by the renowned Japanese pop punk band Shonen Knife. Kurt Cobain said it vividly: “When I finally got to see them live, I was transformed into a hysterical nine-year-old girl at a Beatles concert.” Preparations are in full swing, movies are picked, sake is brewed, sushi is rolled. Hope you’re as excited as us and we will see you all at CAMERA JAPAN Festival 2013!! Reageren is niet langer mogelijk.
